MiSTer gets Game Boy Color Support

Bruno AKA brNK has added Game Boy Color support to MiSTer’s Game Boy FPGA core. This is an early first release so support is hit or miss, but GBC support is under heavy development by Bruno and will be excellent when complete. Games that are supported reportedly play great. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Gameboy_MiSTer/

MiSTer Updates Roundup

This week saw another big round of MiSTer core updates primarily focused on fixing bugs and moving to the new open-source scaler by Grabulosaure. MiSTer PC Engine CD & TurboGrafx-CD Begins

ElectronAsh just posted his initial open-source PC Engine & TurboGrafx-CD code for adding CD support to  MiSTer’s TG16 core. This is important not only for PC Engine CD, but also Sega CD, Jaguar CD, Playstation, and other disc-based systems, because portions of the code to stream CD data will be similar across platforms. The work […]

The Super Game Module is a hardware add-on for the ColecoVision that extends its capabilities significantly, doubling its RAM to 32kb and doubling its sound channels to eight. The SGM is a $100 add-on but sells out quickly every time it goes for sale, which pushes market prices to around $300. Super Game Module Games […]

SD2SNES Gets S-DD1 Special Chip Support

Magno has been working on an open-source S-DD1 special chip FPGA core for SD2SNES for over a year, completing roughly 95% of the code, and Redguy made it playable. His latest commits on Github successfully add support for SDD-1 games in SD2SNES. It hasn’t been officially released yet, but a pre-compiled build was shared (link […]

MiSTer SNES Core Released

As I reported last week, a new and never-before-seen Super Nintendo FPGA emerged recently and took the world by surprise. Srg320 presented a relatively complete SNES implementation, complete with special chip integration. Now that core is on MiSTer. SNES FPGA porting to MiSTer proceeded at a tremendous pace, with ElectronAsh undertaking the effort to get […]
