Metroid NES to SNES Conversion

Developer Infidelity has just released his NES to SNES conversion for the iconic game Metroid.  As with his previous DuckTails, ZeldaMega Man II and Mega Man IV releases, these eliminate slowdown, reduce sprite flicker and allow for SNES-related enhancements that aren’t possible on NES hardware.  Infidelity also added a pretty cool feature:  Hold the R button to enable missilies, release to go back to the normal weapon.  Enabling with Select still works, but this is an awesome addition.  While this release is for Patreon subscribers only, a public release should be coming soon.  For now, check out my livestream above to see it in action:

For this stream, I used the Retro Castle MiSTer case; HDMI went directly to my capture card and I sent S-Video to a consumer CRT.  I also used a SNES to USB controller adapter, designed with the open source MickGuyver conversion circuit that averages 1ms of latency!!

If you’d like more details as to why these NES -> SNES ports are such a big deal, I already covered this in a previous post and discussed it during Weekly Roundup #361 at the 12min mark:  https://youtu.be/rviGb9gS_CA?t=721:
