A Kickstarter campaign was just funded, for a book from Obsolete Sony. This book covers Sony’s “personal audio devices”, from the Walkman, up to the MiniDiscs and Hi-Res players. It’s filled with tons of pictures and writeups on all of them. If you’d like to back the project, an eBook is about $15, a physical copy is about $40 and both is about $50. According to the Kickstarter, the book is “Created with obsessive detail and genuine love for the craft, this book features more than 100 beautifully photographed devices, rare advertising material, design insights, and untold stories from Sony’s golden eras”. If you’re following Obsolete Sony on social media, none of that would be a surprise to you, as their timeline is filled with awesome pictures and info on everything vintage Sony!
I love stuff like this, for the history lesson, nostalgia…and looking at pictures of things I could have never afforded back in the day 🙂 This seems like the perfect “coffee table book” for many electronics nerds and I just wanted to share it with you.
