Goemon 2 & 3 English Translations Released for Super Nintendo/Super Famicom

DDSTranslation released English translations of Ganbare Goemon 2 and 3 at today. Long considered gems of the Super Famicom library, the legendary Goemon series is starting to open up for English speakers after decades of pleas from fans. The Goemon games are extremely difficult to translate because of they way they are coded, and only an expert scene group like DDS would be able to pull off such a feat.

The translated games will play on real Super Nintendo or Super Famicom hardware via flash carts, and on ROM-based systems.

DDS also plans to re-translate (AKA relocalize) Goemon 1 which was released in English as The Legend of the Mystical Ninja, and they are currently working on translations of Geomon 4 (video) and Soreyuke Ebisumaru Karakuri Meiro – Kieta Goemon no Nazo!! [Get Going! Ebisumaru, The Mechanical Maze, Mystery of the Missing Goemon!!] (video), and they’ve even coded a new subtitle system to translate the game’s many voice clips.

Update: A fix has been posted for Goemon 3 for compatibility, use this v2.0 version if you intend to play on real hardware.
Update 2: There was some controversy over the translation of a word in Goemon 3 that ended up being an offensive slur in English, and MrWednesdays has posted a patch to fix this here.
