RetroTINK 4K Firmware v1.9.6

Mike Chi has just released a new, official firmware for the RetroTINK 4K – Both the CE and Pro.  This is essentially a “rollup” firmware that includes all of the really cool enhancements added to the beta firmwares over the past year, as well as updated profiles submitted from the community.  You can choose to install just the new firmware, or do a full update, profiles and all:

Full SD Update:  https://retrotink-llc.github.io/firmware/4k-sdcards.html
Firmware Update Only:  https://retrotink-llc.github.io/firmware/4k.html
Purchase the RT4K:  https://www.retrorgb.com/retrotink.html

We’ve been covering each of these features individually as they were released as beta’s and if you’d like to read more about each, please just search the website for RetroTINK firmware updates and see all the examples.  You can also check out the changelogs on the experimental firmware site as well.  Here’s a (very) summarized version of what was added since that last official update:

  • Added “Smooth I/P” to enable nearly seamless and glitch free 240p <-> 480i transistions
  • Added “TBC” to the list of sync options: similar to Gen-Lock but with additional filtering and slower convergence
  • Added “Adaptive Triple Buffer” that switches to a buffered 50 Hz mode when the source switches from ~60 Hz to ~50 Hz
  • Added “Target Decimate” to the HDMI Input menu for Analogue and MiSTer use to keep the output pixels within a certain range for CRT effects
  • Added 192 kHz the the list of possible audio ADC sample rates
  • Added a VU meter to the Audio menu to help calibrate audio sources and avoid clipping
  • Added CRT beam simulation to the BFI modes to generate a rolling BFI with control of “phospher” glow and steepness
