MSX2 Metal Gear Ported to Amiga

Last Friday (21 May 2021) Ian Ford also known as the H0ffman reported on his blog/Twitter.  That he had released the long anticipated port of the MSX2 classic Metal Gear for the Commodore Amiga.  The H0ffman well known for his work in the Amiga community with his coding, music and amazing DJ’ing skills. Announced in January that he had begun work on porting the MSX2 version of Metal Gear over to the Commodore Amiga.

While Metal Gear has been ported over to other systems in the past like the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).  Those versions were never true to the original game, not to mention being disowned by series creator Hideo Kojima.  However the Amiga port follows the original games code as close as possible thanks to the disassembly work done by Manuel Pazos.  In addition the music and sound was enhanced by the H0ffman.  Giving the port a uniquely Amiga touch and feel.

Decades earlier, an Amiga port of Metal Gear had apparently been in the works and even advertised in Amiga magazines of the time.  However the game was ultimately never ported until now.  The Commodore Amiga port of Metal Gear is now available for download from the H0ffman’s blog site and notable port features are as follows:
