Consoles4U is now selling an adapter that lets you charge PlayStation 3 controllers via any USB device. You’d think this wouldn’t be an issue, but for some reason, PS3 controllers will only charge when connected to an original PS3 console, or via specific adapters that send out a data signal telling the controller to start charging. A handy adapter like this means you can just charge your controller with any USB charger at all! The price is $20 – $40 depending where you live and it’s available now:

Now, of course, you can just pick up a cheap charging dock on Amazon that will do the same thing. I’ll personally be buying one of these instead, as I’ve never wanted one of the Amazon chargers – Not only would I expect the quality to be on the lower side, I don’t have any place to put it. Plus, I don’t want my controllers plugged in all the time. I just want to leave my controllers in a box until I’m ready to play, then connect it to a basic USB port, charge it and start using. I totally understand that not everyone wants a small “adapter tool” like the one Consoles4U is selling, so I also included an Amazon paid affiliate link to an alternative.
